By Eric Rodrigues — Founder, The First Chord Academy, Banaswadi
The most common thing people say to me when they enquire about guitar is this: “I’ve always wanted to learn but I don’t know where to start.”
The answer is simpler than you think. You start with three chords. And on May 31st, that’s exactly what we’re doing — at a beginner guitar workshop at The First Chord Academy in Banaswadi.
Here is exactly what happens in those 90 minutes.
What Is the TFC Beginner Guitar Workshop?
The TFC Beginner Guitar Workshop is a 90-minute, hands-on session for people who have never played guitar before — or who tried once, found it confusing, and gave up.
It is led by me personally — Eric Rodrigues, guitarist with rock and contemporary bands across Bangalore including Twisted Mischief, Ledge 13, Quarter Fret, and Negative Zero, and founder of The First Chord Academy.
The workshop is on Sunday, May 31th, 2026, from 5 PM – 6:30 PM , at TFC in Banaswadi.
Maximum 10 participants. ₹999 if you bring your own guitar. ₹1,199 if we provide one for you.
What You Will Actually Learn
Three chords. That is the honest answer.
Not because guitar only has three chords — it has hundreds of possibilities. But because three specific chords, learned properly in one session, give you everything you need to play a complete song by the time you leave.
Chord 1 — E minor: The easiest chord on the guitar. Two fingers. Rich, full sound. This is where everyone starts, and you will have it within the first 20 minutes of the session.
Chord 2 — G major: A stretch beyond Em, but completely manageable in a single session. G major is in roughly half of all popular songs across every genre.
Chord 3 — C major: The third piece of the foundation. Em, G, and C together form one of the most common chord progressions in popular music — Bollywood, rock, pop, folk, everything.
By the end of the 90 minutes, you will play all three chords in sequence — slowly, together as a group — to a complete song. That moment is the whole point.

What the 90 Minutes Look Like
We start at 5 PM. The first thing I do is play. No introduction, no talking. Just a full piece on guitar so everyone in the room hears what the instrument sounds like in capable hands. Then we begin.
The session moves through how to hold the guitar, how to hold the pick, the string names, and then straight into the first chord. I walk around the room individually during every chord — this is not a lecture where you watch from a distance. I will see your hand, correct your finger position, and make sure you are getting a clean sound before we move on.
The last 15 minutes of the session are for playing a song together as a group. Everyone in the room strumming the same progression at the same time. That experience — making music with other people — is something you do not get from a tutorial video or an app. It is the reason to come in person.
Who This Workshop Is For
Complete beginners — people who have never touched a guitar. This is the primary audience and the workshop is designed entirely around this experience level.
People who tried before and stopped. If you took a few lessons years ago, got confused, and put the guitar down — this is a clean, pressure-free opportunity to restart with better structure and a clearer outcome.
Anyone who has been saying “I should learn guitar” for more than a year and hasn’t started yet. 90 minutes on May 31th closes that loop.
What Happens After the Workshop
Every participant receives a TFC Certificate of Completion.
For those who want to continue — regular monthly guitar classes at TFC start at ₹2,000 for 4 classes per month. Or, for faster progress, TFC Fast Track offers 8 private 1:1 sessions with me personally at ₹15,000 — with ₹500 off for workshop participants who decide within 7 days.
In June, we’re running an intermediate workshop for people who are past the beginner stage and want to push further — barre chords, strumming patterns, and electric guitar introduction. Details coming soon.
