TFC Fast Track — Learn Music in 8 Sessions | Banaswadi

TFC Fast Track private music course Banaswadi Bangalore guitar keyboard ukulele

By Eric Rodrigues — Founder, The First Chord Academy, Banaswadi, Bangalore

TFC Fast Track is the most common thing people ask me about when they discover The First Chord Academy. And it also has the most questions attached to it — what exactly is it, how does it work, is it right for me, which instrument should I pick. This post answers all of it, so you can decide clearly before picking up the phone.

What TFC Fast Track Is — And Who It Is For

TFC Fast Track is an 8-session private 1:1 music course at The First Chord Academy in Banaswadi, Bangalore. It is designed specifically for adults and working professionals who want to learn an instrument properly — without the pace of a group batch, without waiting for other students to catch up, and without spending months getting to the point where they’re actually playing music.

It is for the person who bought a guitar two years ago and it’s still in the corner. The person who always said they’d learn keyboard someday. The person who wants to play at a family event, or just for themselves, and is done with putting it off.

It is not for children — regular monthly classes are better suited for younger students. It is not for someone who wants a casual, explore-and-see approach — Fast Track is structured and moves with intention. And it is not for someone who wants lessons spread across six months — the course is designed to be completed within two months.

If you’re an adult who wants to move fast, learn properly, and actually play something real by the end — TFC Fast Track was built for you.

How the 8 Sessions Are Structured

Every Fast Track course is tailored to the individual student. But here is how a typical 8-session arc looks in practice.

Session 1 — We establish your starting point. What you know, what you want to play, what your hands can currently do. You leave knowing your first chord or your first position on the instrument. No theory overload. Just something real to practice before next week.

Sessions 2 and 3 — Building the foundation. More chords or notes, basic transitions, rhythm and timing introduced through actual music rather than exercises in isolation. By Session 3, you are moving between positions and starting to sound like music.

Sessions 4 and 5 — This is where most students have a breakthrough. The physical muscle memory starts to set. Chord changes feel less deliberate. You begin playing recognisable songs or progressions, not just fragments.

Sessions 6 and 7 — We push further. More complex pieces, strumming or fingerpicking patterns, introduction to basic music theory that makes you understand why what you’re playing works. This is what separates someone who can play songs from someone who understands music.

Session 8 — We review everything covered, consolidate your repertoire, and map out clearly what to do next. You leave with a small but solid set of songs or pieces you can play confidently, and the foundation to keep building independently.

Each session is one hour. Each session is 1:1 with me personally. No assistants, no junior teachers.

Guitar vs Keyboard vs Ukulele — Which to Pick

This is the question I get most often, and the honest answer depends on what you want from music. Here is the straightforward breakdown.

Guitar is the most versatile instrument in the world. It covers every genre — Bollywood, rock, classical, folk, jazz. The first few weeks require building finger strength and calluses on your fingertips, which is slightly uncomfortable but passes quickly. If you want to play for the rest of your life and keep growing as a musician, guitar is the strongest foundation. It also opens the most doors — performing, songwriting, sessions, everything.

Keyboard is unique in that it teaches both melody and harmony simultaneously from the very first session. Your right hand plays the tune, your left plays the chords — and hearing both together is immediately satisfying. If you love the idea of accompanying yourself while you sing, or if you are drawn to classical or Bollywood arrangements, keyboard is the right choice. It also provides the clearest introduction to music theory of the three instruments.

Ukulele is the fastest path from zero to playing a complete song. It has four strings, a smaller neck, and a naturally warm, cheerful sound. Most Fast Track students on ukulele are playing full songs by Session 3. If your goal is to play something at a gathering, strum along to songs you love, or just enjoy music without a long ramp-up — ukulele is the answer. It is also the easiest on your fingers.

If you genuinely cannot decide, come in for a free trial and try all three. That usually settles it in fifteen minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need any experience to join Fast Track?

No. Most Fast Track students are complete beginners. The course is designed to work from zero. If you have some prior experience, we simply start from where you are and move faster.

I am not naturally musical — will this work for me?

Yes. The idea that some people are musical and others aren’t is one of the most damaging myths in music education. What you need is not natural talent — it is structured teaching, consistent practice, and a teacher who can identify specifically what you need to work on. That is what Fast Track provides.

How much should I practice between sessions?

Twenty to thirty minutes a day, five days a week, makes a significant difference. That is all. You do not need hours. You need consistency. I give every student a specific, short practice task after each session so you always know exactly what to do.

Can I do more than one session per week?

In certain cases, yes — particularly for students who are moving faster than expected or have a specific deadline such as a performance or event. This is discussed case by case.

What if I miss a session?

Up to 2 sessions can be rescheduled with 24 hours notice. Beyond that, missed sessions are forfeited. This is a structured course, not an open-ended arrangement.

Is the ₹15,000 negotiable?

No. Fast Track is priced to reflect what it provides — 8 hours of private, 1:1 teaching with me personally, a structured curriculum, and a clear outcome. It is not a group class price because it is not a group class experience.

What happens after Session 8?

Students who complete Fast Track can continue with regular monthly classes at TFC, enroll in a second Fast Track course to go deeper, or continue independently with a clear practice plan. The goal of Session 8 is to make sure you know exactly what to do next, regardless of which path you choose.
